Two houses that sell a story as much as a scent. One takes you to the cellars of a cognac dynasty. The other takes you back to a Sunday morning. Kilian Paris and Maison Margiela Replica are both built on narrative. Neither asks you to think in terms of fragrance families or note pyramids first. They ask you to pick a story, then see how it smells. This guide compares how each house tells its story, what its fragrances are like, and where to start. Esscentum stocks both, with 10 Kilian Paris products and 10 Maison Margiela Replica products. Confirm current pricing, notes and availability on the Kilian Paris and Maison Margiela collection pages rather than treating anything here as fixed. The Estée Lauder Companies acquired the brand in 2016. Its stories lean on heritage and indulgence. Angels' Share, introduced in 2020, is described as his most personal creation, a tribute to his eighth-generation inheritance of cognac-making. The name refers to the portion of a spirit that evaporates while it ages in oak barrels. Old Fashioned takes its name from the classic cocktail, and you can read more in our piece on the man behind Kilian Paris Old Fashioned. Maison Margiela is a fashion house, founded in Paris in 1988 by Martin Margiela. Its Replica line began as garments in 1994 and became fragrances in 2012. Each Replica scent is meant to recreate a specific moment, and the cloth label details the title, place, era and scent theme. The names say it all: Lazy Sunday Morning, Jazz Club, By the Fireplace, Beach Walk, Bubble Bath. These are everyday memories, where Kilian's are more theatrical. Scent Style Angels' Share is the clearest way into Kilian. Retailers list cognac on top, then oak, cinnamon and tonka bean, over sandalwood, praline and vanilla, made with perfumer Benoist Lapouza. It's rich and warming, described as suited to cooler months and evenings, and marketed as appealing to men and women. It's an eau de parfum, and the bottle is refillable. We couldn't source notes for Old Fashioned, Rose Oud, Born to Be Unforgettable, Can't Stop Loving You or Kologne Shield of Protection, so check their product pages. Replica's best-known fragrances are softer and more everyday. Lazy Sunday Morning is listed by Sephora with lily of the valley, iris and white musk, built around clean linen sheets. A Maison Margiela Fragrances spokesperson has said it debuted in 2013 and accounts for over half of the line's global sales, which is the brand's claim. Jazz Club is listed with pink pepper, tobacco leaf and vanilla, and By the Fireplace with chestnuts, vanilla and clove oil. The last two share the warm vanilla register of Angels' Share, just in a lighter, more casual key. Beyond the Bottle Kilian is a more complete luxury ecosystem at Esscentum. The collection includes three scented candles, Tabac Kentucky, Cuir Venise and Jasmin Andalousie, plus a candle stand. The house also sells its fragrances in bottles designed to be kept and refilled. Replica is a fragrance-only line here, but its labels and apothecary-style bottles make the whole range instantly recognizable. If you want a home fragrance alongside your perfume, Kilian is the one that offers it. Which One Suits You? Choose Kilian Paris if You like rich, boozy, gourmand warmth and a sense of ceremony. You care about refillable bottles and want candles in the same family. You want a stronger story of luxury and heritage. Choose Maison Margiela Replica if You prefer relaxed, everyday scents tied to a mood or memory. You like choosing a fragrance by the moment you want to wear it. You'd like a larger set of fragrances to compare. Where to Start With Each These picks are confirmed as listed in Esscentum's catalog, but check current stock before ordering. Kilian Paris: Angels' Share for the cognac story; Old Fashioned if the cocktail idea appeals (check its page for notes); and one of the candles if you want the brand at home. See our Kilian Paris guide. Maison Margiela Replica: Lazy Sunday Morning for something clean and soft; Jazz Club for a warm, tobacco-and-vanilla evening; and By the Fireplace for a cozy chestnut-and-clove scent. See our Maison Margiela guide. Not a verdict: These houses suit different moods more than different budgets. Kilian leans theatrical and luxurious, Replica leans personal and relaxed. If you can, sample one or two from each before committing to a full bottle. Frequently Asked Questions Is Kilian Paris better than Maison Margiela Replica? Neither is better in general. Kilian suits shoppers who want rich, heritage-driven fragrances, while Replica suits those who want soft, everyday scents tied to a memory. What is Angels' Share? It's a Kilian fragrance introduced in 2020, inspired by the portion of cognac that evaporates while aging in barrels. It's described with cognac, oak, cinnamon and tonka bean over sandalwood, praline and vanilla. What is Maison Margiela Replica? One house builds perfume around places. The other builds it around memories. Both are easier to wear than their reputations suggest. Memo Paris and Byredo often end up on the same shortlist because both are modern, design-conscious niche houses with a strong sense of identity, and neither relies on heavy oud or dramatic intensity to make an impression. They approach perfume from different directions. This guide compares their origins, style and range, and helps you decide where to start. Esscentum stocks both, with 30 Memo Paris products and nine Byredo products. Confirm current pricing, notes and availability on the Memo Paris and Byredo collection pages rather than treating anything here as fixed. At a Glance Memo Paris Byredo Origin Paris Stockholm Founded 2007, by Clara and John Molloy 2006, by Ben Gorham Concept "Travel notes": fragrances tied to places Translating memories and emotions into products Signature idea The Cuirs Nomades leather collection A lifestyle brand beyond perfume Ownership Not covered here Puig, which fully owns it after Gorham's 2025 departure Esscentum range 30 products, including hair perfumes 9 products: 7 fragrances, 2 candles Origins and Philosophy Memo Paris was founded in 2007 by Clara and John Molloy. Every fragrance is conceived as a "travel note," tied to a specific place, memory or encounter. That shows up directly in the naming: Inlé is a lake in Myanmar, Marfa is a town in Texas, and the Cuirs Nomades collection explores leather as interpreted by different countries. CaFleureBon reports that the house works with the IFF perfumer Aliénor Massenet as its de facto in-house perfumer, collaborating with Clara Molloy. Byredo was founded in Stockholm in 2006 by Ben Gorham, with the stated aim of translating memories and emotions into everyday products. It has since grown into a lifestyle brand with candles, leather goods and more. Puig took a majority stake in 2022, and Gorham left at the end of June 2025, so Puig now owns the house outright. Is Byredo Really Minimalist? The comparison title calls Byredo minimalist, and the label fits in places. Retailer copy for Blanche describes a minimalist character that invites layering, and a bottle with clean lines and a sculptural form. But two retailers describe the house as standing in contrast to typical Scandinavian aesthetics, drawing on Gorham's Indian background and a broader creative universe. So treat "minimalist" as a description of some products, not the whole house. Memo Paris, by comparison, is more openly narrative: its names are places, and each one tells you where it's headed. Scent Style Memo Paris's leather line makes the house easy to compare with itself. Retailer key notes list juniper and green mate absolute for Irish Leather, green tomato leaf and vanilla absolute for Italian Leather, and lime, rose water essence and a suede accord for French Leather. Moroccan Leather, released in 2018, belongs to the same collection. African Leather lists cardamom and geranium, though Esscentum carries it only as a hair perfume. Beyond leather, Inlé is listed with jasmine, mate and osmanthus absolutes plus bergamot, mint and musk, and Marfa is described by Galeries Lafayette as an addictive white flower with a sunny trail. Byredo's stocked fragrances are quieter and more varied. Blanche is built around Gorham's idea of the color white, and retailers list rose, peony, musk and sandalwood, with one describing the scent as freshly laundered cotton. La Tulipe opens with fresh green notes like cut flower stems, with a tulip heart, vetiver and blonde woods. Bibliothèque is listed by Harper's Bazaar with peach, plum, leather and patchouli, reminiscent of the pages of a book. Eleventh Hour is listed with bergamot, rum and tonka bean, which that magazine describes as a cozy, warm and fruity scent. We couldn't source notes for Mumbai Noise, Eyes Closed or 1996 Inez & Vinoodh, so check their product pages. Range and Format Memo Paris offers far more at Esscentum: standard fragrances across the Cuirs Nomades, Graines Vagabondes, Fleurs Bohèmes and Escales Extraordinaires collections, plus hair perfumes for African, French and Irish Leather and Inlé. Byredo's range here is compact: seven fragrances and two candles, Bohemia and Cotton Poplin. If you like choosing from a big catalog, Memo Paris gives you more to explore. If you'd rather scan a short list, Byredo is easy to take in at a glance. Which One Suits You? Choose Memo Paris if You like fragrances with a clear place-based story. You're drawn to leather in its many forms. You want hair perfume options alongside standard fragrances. Choose Byredo if You prefer subtle, design-led fragrances tied to memory and mood. You like the idea of candles in the same family as your perfume. You'd rather work from a short, curated list. One house tells an 18th-century royal story. The other sells itself on performance and a dash of provocation. Here is how to choose. Parfums de Marly and Initio Parfums Privés both occupy the confident, high-impact end of niche perfume, and both are popular with shoppers who want fragrances people notice. Their identities are very different, though. This guide compares their origins, style and range, and helps you decide where to begin. Esscentum stocks both, with eight Parfums de Marly products and seven Initio products, so each is easy to scan in one sitting. Confirm current pricing, notes and availability on the Parfums de Marly and Initio Parfums Privés collection pages rather than treating anything here as fixed. Its name comes from the Château de Marly, a royal retreat that the house uses as shorthand for the lavish, festive side of the 18th-century French court. Horses are part of that story: retailer accounts cite the royal passion for breeding them, and the house's bottles carry a design with two horses. Initio went to market in 2015 and presents perfume as something close to a ritual. The name is a Latin word that retailers describe as meaning both "from the beginning" and "to initiate," and the house describes fragrance as having ancient roots in magic and purification. Parfumo says the brand launched seven unisex fragrances after years of research, and that its perfumers work closely with chemists. Sources disagree on where Initio is based. Some retailers call it Parisian, while Parfumo describes it as Dubai-based. A creative director known as Nadia leads it, and retailers say she has kept her background private. Scent Style Parfums de Marly is known for warm, vanilla-led richness. Retailer coverage names Layton, Herod, Delina and Pegasus as the signatures and notes that Layton, Pegasus and Delina share a warm vanilla heart. Of the fragrances Esscentum stocks, Pegasus is described as a composition of fruits, spices and woody notes, and Haltane as starting with a herbal top note before developing into a soft composition with gourmand nuances. Initio's best-known work is bolder and more explicitly seductive. Oud for Greatness, the house's flagship, is described by a French retailer as saffron and nutmeg over a polished agarwood heart with lavender, patchouli and musk, opulent and dark with huge projection. Side Effect is described as saffron, rum and tobacco wrapped in vanilla and cinnamon, warm and heady for cold-weather evenings. Blessed Baraka is listed as boozy woody amber with creamy sandalwood, and Paragon as aromatic herbs and spiced plum grounded by resins. The pattern is rich, noticeable and often boozy or smoky. We couldn't source notes for Can't Get Enough, Power Self or Oud for Greatness Neo, so check their product pages. Concentration and Performance Retailers list all eight Parfums de Marly products as eau de parfum. Initio mixes concentrations: Luckyscent lists Oud for Greatness, Side Effect, Blessed Baraka and Can't Get Enough as eau de parfum, and Paragon and Power Self as extrait de parfum, which is generally more concentrated. Initio is marketed on performance, and the French retailer describes Oud for Greatness as having huge projection, but that's a retailer's claim and individual experience varies, so treat product pages as the guide. Compare current prices on the listings, since niche pricing isn't standardized. Which One Suits You? Choose Parfums de Marly if You like warm, vanilla-led richness with a story rooted in French history. You respond to heritage branding and a recognizable bottle. You prefer a house whose signature names are widely discussed. Choose Initio if You want a bold, oud-, rum- or tobacco-forward statement. You like the idea of high performance and some extrait options. You prefer a unisex house with a more provocative personality. Where to Start With Each These picks are confirmed as listed in Esscentum's catalog, but check current stock before ordering. Parfums de Marly: Pegasus, one of the house's four best-known names; Herod, another of them; and Haltane if you prefer a herbal, gourmand direction. See our Parfums de Marly guide. Initio: Oud for Greatness, the flagship (Oud for Greatness Neo is a separate listing, so check how it differs); Side Effect for a spiced rum and tobacco warmth; and Blessed Baraka for boozy woody amber. Not a verdict: These houses suit different moods. Parfums de Marly leans toward warm elegance, Initio toward drama. If you can, sample one or two from each before committing to a full bottle. Frequently Asked Questions Is Initio better than Parfums de Marly? Neither is better in general. Parfums de Marly suits shoppers who want warm, heritage-driven richness, while Initio suits those who want bolder, performance-led fragrances. Where is Initio from? Sources differ. Both are famous names with similar-sounding surnames and very different ideas about how perfume should be worn. Jo Malone and Frédéric Malle are easy to confuse, partly because of the names and partly because both are well-known, Western houses with a polished image. Beyond that, they have almost nothing in common. One built its identity on mixing fragrances. The other built its identity on authored compositions with the perfumer's name on the box. This guide compares the two and helps you decide where to start. Esscentum stocks both, with 21 Jo Malone products and 17 Frédéric Malle products. Confirm current pricing, notes and availability on the Jo Malone and Frédéric Malle collection pages rather than treating anything here as fixed. At a Glance Jo Malone London Frédéric Malle Origin London Paris Founded 1994, by Jo Malone 2000, by Frédéric Malle Core idea Fragrance combining: layering colognes A "publishing house" crediting each perfumer Main format Colognes, plus a Cologne Intense line Perfumes and colognes, plus a hair mist and linen sprays Home and body Candle, diffuser oils, hair mists and a pillow mist Two linen sprays and one hair mist Esscentum range 21 products 17 products Two Different Ideas Jo Malone opened her first store on London's Walton Street in 1994, after building a reputation through her bespoke work. The house is closely associated with "fragrance combining," the idea of layering two or more colognes, or a cologne with a body product, to make a personal scent. Estée Lauder acquired the company in 1999. Frédéric Malle founded Éditions de Parfums Frédéric Malle in Paris in 2000. He comes from a fragrance family, since his grandfather founded Parfums Christian Dior, and he approaches the house like a publisher. Independent perfumers are given creative freedom, and their names appear on the bottles and boxes. Estée Lauder acquired this house too, with the sale reported around 2014 to 2015. Layering: Jo Malone's Signature Layering is built into how Jo Malone presents its colognes. Retailer pages for Wild Bluebell, for example, suggest wearing it alone or layering it with another cologne, and list specific pairings. One suggests Wild Bluebell with Grapefruit for a luminous floral, or with Wood Sage & Sea Salt for a cool, woody scent with a touch of sea salt. Selfridges suggests pairing it with English Pear & Freesia or Pomegranate Noir. The notes are light by design. Wild Bluebell is listed with bluebell, lily of the valley, eglantine and persimmon. Pomegranate Noir is listed with pomegranate, pink pepper and Casablanca lily, warmed by guaiac wood and patchouli. Those are quite different moods, which is what makes combining them interesting. If you like the idea of a scent that's yours alone, Jo Malone is built for it. Statement Compositions: Frédéric Malle's Approach Frédéric Malle's fragrances are presented as authored works. Portrait of a Lady, created by Dominique Ropion in 2010, is listed with Turkish rose, raspberry, blackcurrant, cinnamon and clove on top, over patchouli, sandalwood, incense, benzoin and musk. Carnal Flower, also by Ropion, is built around tuberose, and the house's trade communications describe it as having the highest concentration of tuberose of any perfume on the market. That is the brand's own claim. Le Parfum de Thérèse, by Edmond Roudnitska, was part of the house's original 2000 launch. These are fuller, more distinctive compositions, designed as complete statements by a named creator. That doesn't mean they can't be worn with something else. We haven't found guidance either way, so we're not claiming it. It simply means you're buying a finished idea, not a building block. Which Suits Your Style? Choose Jo Malone if You like the idea of mixing and matching to create your own scent. You prefer lighter, closer-to-skin cologne wear. You want candles, diffusers and hair mists in the same scent family. Choose Frédéric Malle if You want a distinctive, authored fragrance from a named perfumer. You prefer a single, complete composition to a combination. You like following a perfumer's work across a catalog. Where to Start With Each These picks are confirmed as listed in Esscentum's catalog, but check current stock before ordering. Jo Malone: Wild Bluebell and Pomegranate Noir, two colognes that Selfridges itself suggests combining, so you can try layering with a single purchase of each; and English Oak & Hazelnut or Bronze Wood & Leather if you want a warmer direction (check the product pages for notes). See our Jo Malone buying guide and best-of list. Frédéric Malle: Portrait of a Lady for a rich, spiced rose; Carnal Flower for tuberose; and Cologne Bigarade for something lighter, since "bigarade" is the French word for bitter orange. See our Frédéric Malle buying guide and best-of list. Not a verdict: These houses suit different habits more than different budgets or tastes. If you enjoy experimenting, start with Jo Malone. If you want one finished idea, start with Frédéric Malle. If you can, sample before committing to a full bottle. Frequently Asked Questions Are Jo Malone and Frédéric Malle related? No, they are separate houses founded by different people. Both are now part of the Estée Lauder Companies. What is fragrance combining? It's Jo Malone's concept of layering two or more colognes, or a cologne with a body product, to create a personal scent. The brand and its retailers suggest specific pairings. Why does Frédéric Malle credit the perfumer on the bottle? The house is run like a publishing company, giving independent perfumers creative freedom and crediting them by name, much as a publisher credits an author. Where can I buy Jo Malone and Frédéric Malle in Lebanon? Both are available online through Esscentum's dedicated collections. Always verify current stock and pricing on the product page before ordering. Compare both houses side by side. Shop Jo Malone Shop Frédéric Malle

Two Italian houses that both lean on storytelling and craft, one through Dante and a medieval castle, the other through astronomy and a revived perfumery. V Canto and Xerjoff are both Italian, both ornate and both unafraid of a statement. If you're comparing them, you're probably drawn to Italian niche perfumery but not sure which house suits you. They go about it in very different ways. This guide compares their origins, style and range, and helps you decide where to begin. Esscentum stocks both, with 29 V Canto products and 78 Xerjoff products. Confirm current pricing, notes and availability on the V Canto and Xerjoff collection pages rather than treating anything here as fixed. At a Glance V Canto Xerjoff Origin Italy, from the Terenzi family Italy, connected to Turin Founded 2015, by Paolo and Tiziana Terenzi By Sergio Momo; first collection (XJ 17/17) in 2004 Inspiration Dante's Divine Comedy and the Malatesta family of Gradara Astronomy, Italian perfumery heritage and luxury Concentration Known for extrait de parfum Varies by line; Naxos is an eau de parfum Esscentum range 29 products 78 products Best for A distinctive, story-led collection Variety and exploration Origins and Philosophy V Canto was founded in 2015 by siblings Paolo and Tiziana Terenzi, whose family also owns Tiziana Terenzi. The brand is rooted in the family's connection to Castello di Gradara, a medieval castle in Italy's Marche region. Its name refers to the fifth canto of Dante's Inferno, which tells of a tragic love affair tied to the Malatesta family. That literary and historical framework shapes the entire catalog. The perfumes are marketed as unisex. Xerjoff was founded by Sergio Momo and launched its first collection, XJ 17/17, in 2004. Parfumo notes that Momo's passion for astronomy led to bottles decorated with a small piece of meteorite. The house later launched Casamorati 1888, a collection that revives the historic C. Casamorati perfumery, founded in 1888 in Bologna, which retailers describe as famed for its fragrances and bath soaps. Sources differ on whether Xerjoff was founded in 2003 or 2004, but the Italian luxury positioning is consistent. The Role of Storytelling Both houses tell stories, but they do it differently. V Canto builds one coherent world. Its Arkano series takes its names from tarot cards, with Arkano del Sole, della Luna, delle Stelle, della Fortuna, della Temperanza and degli Amanti. Other releases take their names from the Malatesta family, including Malatesta, Sigismondo, Pandolfo and Isotta, and from characters such as Giullare, Menestrello and Boia. A group of releases carries the names of historical poisons. Mastin, the debut fragrance from 2015, is named for a nickname of the Malatesta patriarch. Xerjoff's stories sit across many separate lines. Casamorati 1888 revives an old perfumery. Join the Club, Kemi, Oud Stars, Shooting Stars, 17/17 and XJ 1861 each have their own identity. That gives Xerjoff more variety, but less of a single narrative thread. Scent Style We couldn't verify notes for V Canto's fragrances, so the product pages are the best guide to what each smells like. What the house is known for is intensity: extrait strength is generally more concentrated than eau de parfum. For Xerjoff, we can be more specific about at least one flagship. Naxos is listed by retailers with bergamot, lemon and lavender on top, cinnamon, honey, cashmeran and jasmine sambac in the heart, and tobacco leaf, tonka and vanilla underneath. Reviews are split on how sweet it reads. Casamorati's 1888 is listed by one retailer with carnation, pepper, coriander and saffron on top, and ylang-ylang, rose and neroli in the heart, and the collection as a whole is described as a vintage, Art Nouveau-era homage. The breadth is the point: Xerjoff covers fresh, spicy, floral, gourmand and oud directions. Presentation V Canto describes its bottle as a poetic embrace, with a lacquered metal lid referencing a knight's helmet and shield. Xerjoff's presentation varies by line, from meteorite-decorated bottles in the astronomy-inspired collections to the period feel of Casamorati. If you value a single, recognizable object, V Canto's is more uniform. If you enjoy variety in design as well as scent, Xerjoff offers more. Which One Suits You? Choose V Canto if You like perfume with a literary, historical story behind it. You prefer extrait-strength fragrances. You'd rather explore a smaller collection with a clear theme. Choose Xerjoff if You want many moods and styles to choose from. You like Italian luxury with a range of sub-lines to explore. You'd like at least some notes you can research before buying, such as Naxos. Where to Start With Each These picks are confirmed as listed in Esscentum's catalog, but check current stock before ordering. V Canto: Mastin, the house's debut fragrance; one of the Arkano series, such as Arkano del Sole or Arkano degli Amanti, if the tarot theme appeals; and Isotta or Agape if you're drawn to the romantic side of the story. See our V Canto buying guide and best-of list. Xerjoff: Naxos for a warm honey-and-tobacco style, Erba Pura and Alexandria II as two more of the house's widely discussed names, and a Casamorati 1888 release if you like the revival story. See our Xerjoff buying guide. Not a verdict: These are two different ways of being Italian and ornate, so the choice is about taste. If you can, sample one or two from each before committing to a full bottle. For other Xerjoff comparisons, see Xerjoff vs Montale Frequently Asked Questions Is V Canto better than Xerjoff? Neither is better in general. V Canto suits shoppers who want a story-led, extrait-strength collection, while Xerjoff suits those who want more variety across many sub-lines. Is V Canto related to Tiziana Terenzi? Yes. Both come from the Terenzi family, though they are separate lines with different creative concepts. What is Casamorati 1888? It is a Xerjoff collection that revives the historic C. Casamorati perfumery, founded in 1888 in Bologna, Italy. Where can I buy V Canto and Xerjoff in Lebanon? A London house with warrior-queen shield bottles and an Italian family house with star-named, gold-finished extraits. Here is how to choose between them. Boadicea the Victorious and Tiziana Terenzi are two of the more theatrical houses in niche perfume. Both make rich, noticeable fragrances in ornate bottles, and both market their perfumes as unisex. They come from different traditions and take different creative routes. This guide compares their origins, style and presentation, and helps you decide where to begin. Esscentum stocks both, with 34 Boadicea the Victorious products and 20 Tiziana Terenzi products. Confirm current pricing, notes and availability on the Boadicea the Victorious and Tiziana Terenzi collection pages rather than treating anything here as fixed. It takes its name from Boudica, the Celtic queen who led a revolt against Roman rule in Britain. That shows up in the names, with Valiant, Defender and Monarch, and in the shield mounted on each bottle. The house markets its fragrances as gender-neutral. Tiziana Terenzi comes from a family with an unusual background. The Terenzi business began in 1968 in Cattolica, Italy, as a candle workshop founded by Evelino Terenzi. His children, Tiziana and Paolo, launched the perfume line in 2012, starting with Gold Rose Oudh. The family also owns V Canto, a separate house. Tiziana Terenzi is best known for its star-themed releases. Presentation Both houses treat the bottle as part of the product. Boadicea's bottles carry a metal shield, and an editorial roundup describes details such as blue glass with a gold shield and a jewel at its center for Blue Sapphire, and rearing stallions on the shield for Valiant. Tiziana Terenzi's bottles are described as finished with gold accents and hand-blown Italian glass. If you want a bottle that reads as an object, either works. Boadicea's is more heraldic, while Tiziana Terenzi's is more jewel-like. Scent Style Boadicea the Victorious leans oud-forward with a Middle Eastern influence. Blue Sapphire, its best-known fragrance, is listed by retailers with lemon, sage, saffron, marigold and orange on top, cardamom, magnolia, rose and jasmine in the heart, and amber, oud, patchouli and vetiver underneath. A UK retailer says it was created to commemorate the 65th wedding anniversary of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, which is the retailer's account rather than something we've verified. Oud Sapphire, from the same collection, is listed with ambrette, saffron and black pepper on top, leather, oud and osmanthus in the heart, and orris, sandalwood and styrax underneath. Tiziana Terenzi is better known for its range of star-named extraits than for a single signature accord. Its debut, Gold Rose Oudh, is described by one retailer as a floral-woody composition with rose and patchouli at the heart and oudh, sandalwood, musk and honey underneath. Its star-named releases include Sirrah and Mirach, which retailers place in the Luna Collection, along with Draconis, Gemini and Pisces. Retailers describe the Luna Collection as warm in tone. So while both houses can be rich and noticeable, Boadicea's best-known fragrances are more explicitly built around oud, while Tiziana Terenzi's range is broader in mood. Concentration and Performance Blue Sapphire is sold as an eau de parfum, and one UK retailer lists it at 15 to 20 percent concentration. Boadicea also makes pure parfums. Tiziana Terenzi is known for extrait strength, which is generally more concentrated than eau de parfum.
